Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has officially relaunched the Purple Route (Al Nakheel – Manar Mall) as part of its continuous efforts to strengthen the public transport network, improve service quality, and drive the transition towards greener and more sustainable mobility across the Emirate.
Effective 3 June 2026, the upgraded route brings 14 kilometres of expanded geographic coverage, new stops, and improved scheduling — all designed to make daily commuting more reliable, convenient, and accessible for residents and visitors alike.
A Smarter, More Connected Route
The Purple Route runs 14 km in each direction across 9 key stops, connecting Al Nakheel to Manar Mall via major destinations including:
With 12 daily trips operating on an optimised schedule, the route offers greater frequency and smoother connectivity across the Emirate’s key areas.
Ride Free for the First Month
To welcome the community aboard the upgraded service, RAKTA is offering free rides on the Purple Route throughout the first month of operation. This is a great opportunity for residents to explore the new route and experience the improvements firsthand.
Ras Al Khaimah’s First Electric Bus
The relaunch of the Purple Route also introduces a landmark moment for sustainable transport in the Emirate — the deployment of Ras Al Khaimah’s first electric bus on a public transport route. This milestone reflects RAKTA’s commitment to reducing emissions, embracing clean energy solutions, and building a greener transport network in line with the Emirate’s sustainability vision and 2026 green transition targets.
Better Journeys, Every Day
The upgraded Purple Route is designed with the daily commuter in mind — shorter wait times, more stops, improved timetables, and easier access to hospitals, universities, government offices, and shopping destinations. It offers residents a practical, comfortable, and eco-friendly alternative for getting around the Emirate.
Commenting on the launch, H.E. Eng. Ismail Hassan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, said:
“The relaunch of the Purple Route reflects our ongoing commitment to delivering modern, efficient, and sustainable transport solutions that serve our community and support the Emirate’s long-term vision. Introducing Ras Al Khaimah’s first electric bus on this route is a proud milestone — one that brings us closer to a cleaner, smarter, and more connected transport future.”
