As part of its efforts to develop dedicated transport services for People of Determination and enhance their ease of mobility, RAKTA has doubled the fleet of taxis dedicated to People of Determination and Senior Citizens from two to four vehicles, enabling a wider range of beneficiaries to access the service while providing more suitable and convenient mobility options for customers.
This initiative is part of RAKTA’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the inclusive transport system and ensure that its services address the needs of People of Determination and Senior Citizens, in line with the directions of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. These efforts focus on providing supportive infrastructure and community facilities, developing dedicated vehicles and equipment, and enhancing the readiness of personnel responsible for delivering these services, thereby supporting a safe and comfortable mobility experience.
The People of Determination taxis are equipped with features designed to meet customers’ needs, including a dedicated wheelchair lift to facilitate boarding and disembarking, secure wheelchair restraints to ensure the stability of wheelchairs during the journey, and smart cameras that contribute to enhancing safety and monitoring trips.
Drivers of these vehicles also undergo specialized training on interacting with People of Determination, enhancing their ability to serve beneficiaries and supporting the quality of service delivery.
Mr. Mohammed Hashem Ismail, Director of Transport Licensing and Control Department at RAKTA, said:

The People of Determination taxi service complements RAKTA’s public transport system, with all public buses across the Emirate equipped to accommodate the needs of People of Determination and facilitate their mobility.
It is worth noting that RAKTA provides People of Determination with free travel on internal public buses through the dedicated Saqr Gold Card. RAKTA also provides Senior Citizens with a 50% discount on internal public bus services, supporting easier access to transport services and providing a more accessible and convenient mobility experience.
