RAKTA launches the smart control center

Ras Al Khaimah Transportation Authority (RAKTA) has introduced the Smart Control and Monitoring Center based on artificial intelligence techniques and big data for transportation, which includes public transportation buses, taxis, school buses, marine transportation, and micro mobility services, as part of its development and improvement strategy to tighten control and smart follow-up of the transportation systems in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah.

The tasks of the center focus on gathering data, assisting in strategic decision-making, and providing real-time and direct follow-up of all modes of transportation through smart tracking and monitoring via smart cameras to watch over all operational processes, including monitoring drivers’ behavior through the “Shaheen” system.

The center also monitors and tracks transport activities, supports the operational system, provides intelligent guidance for means of transport, analyzes and processes operational data, and displays it through live performance indicators that facilitate the process of crisis and emergency management of the transport system.

In addition to the integration of the smart control and monitoring center with government trends to improve the quality of life in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and enhance the safe city in accordance with the highest international standards.

H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi – General Manager, stated that RAKTA aspires to ensure the flow of transportation for everybody within a reliable, safe, and intelligent transportation system around-the-clock, as the center will provide data that will help in the smart management of transportation and monitoring of demand sites for services through feedback and incoming data from smart meters in taxis, it will also contribute to reducing operational costs through intelligent guidance for vehicles and drivers, and analysis of operational data that will contribute to planning and developing future expansion plans for transportation systems.

It is worth noting that the smart camera system linked to the center will contribute to achieving people’s happiness by making it easier to track their lost items in transportation and raising the percentage of found items. The center will also help track drivers’ behavior by monitoring their behavior while driving, which will raise the level of safety in transportation and enhance transportation security in the emirate.
