RAKTA signs an agreement with “TIER Mobility” to operate e-scooters and e-bikes in Ras Al Khaimah

Stemming from its vision “Pioneering in regulating the transportation sector and ensuring the provision of safe, reliable and smart transportation services.” and in continuation to operating electric scooters, which was launched for the first time in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah in 2019, Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) signed an operating agreement for the service of e-scooters and e-bikes. TIER Mobility, the world’s leading shared micro-mobility provider, operating in more than 250 cities  around the world such as Paris, London, Berlin, and Dubai.

H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi – General Manager of RAKTA stated that this agreement is among the priorities of the Authority to support smooth mobility for all, and make Ras Al Khaimah a smart and sustainable city, in addition to strengthening sustainable partnerships with major international companies.

H.E added: The operation of e-scooters and e-bikes will be across 10 key areas in Ras Al Khaimah, including tourist and vital sites in the emirate. RAKTA along with TIER, will work closely together to ensure both residents and tourists receive the highest standards of safety.

Amir Melad, General Manager, Middle East of TIER, said: “This is yet another milestone for TIER, as we are opening our 7th city in the Middle East, offering residents and tourists in Ras Al-Khaimah a more environmentally-friendly and convenient alternative, to seamlessly move around the city, which is directly in line with our continued mission to change mobility for good. Thanks to RAKTA’s commitment to providing advanced and safe transport options, we are pleased to be able to contribute to providing a first-class experience through our e-scooter and e-bike services.”

It is worth noting that TIER is one of the first companies in the world to use interchangeable battery technology, placing the company at the forefront of the sustainable corporate sector, as the batteries can now be changed at the scooters’ locations by a local team rather than having to be transported daily to warehouses for charging.
