RAKTA launches the Marine transport project in Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has launched the Marine transport project for passengers represented by the heritage Abra in Ras Al Khaimah Creek, which is being implemented through four main stations (Corniche Station 1, Corniche Station 2, Hilton Garden In Station, and Manar Mall Station).

The implementation of this project comes as a translation of Ras Al Khaimah Government’s vision 2030 and RAKTA’s strategy 2020-2025, which aims to raise the quality of life in the emirate to achieve happiness for residents and visitors, shift towards sustainable transport and encourage mass transport. The project also aims to provide a variety of transport solutions that meet the needs of all segments of society.

H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi – General Manager of RAKTA, indicated that the launch of the marine transport project in the emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is a qualitative addition to the package of transport infrastructure projects in the emirate implemented by RAKTA to encourage mass transport and encourage recreational activities to raise the level of quality of life, facilitate access and integration between different means of transport and connect the regions together. This is part of a strategy and expansion plan for marine transport activities in the emirate, which includes three main phases, which will be implemented according to the approved timeframe.

H.E added that the heritage Abra is equipped with smart cameras that work with artificial intelligence techniques and linked to the smart control and monitoring center to ensure the highest levels of security and safety for users. The cameras also monitor drivers’ behavior during sailing operations.

It is worth noting that the heritage Abra is equipped according to the highest approved safety standards, which include qualified and licensed drivers, marine safety equipment, GPS electronic tracking systems, smart cameras, safety instructions for users, environmental requirements, and requirements for safe driving. In addition, marine passenger transport systems are subject to oversight and inspection by RAKTA’s control inspectors.

Customers can book the service and purchase tickets by visiting the sites of the marine transport stations located in Al Qawasim Corniche, where the electronic reservation system allows customers to pay by cash or via electronic payment cards, during working hours from 10 AM to 7 PM on weekdays, and from 10 AM to 9 PM on weekends and official holidays.
