RAKTA expands its taxi fleet with four-wheel-drive vehicles to facilitate transportation in both regular and emergency situations

As part of its commitment to providing comprehensive and sustainable transport solutions that meet the needs of all community segments and adapt to climate changes and emerging challenges, the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has launched a new fleet of four-wheel drive taxis. These vehicles are specifically designed to facilitate customer travel under normal and emergency conditions, including rainy days, waterlogged areas, and various emergency situations. This service is a new addition to the taxi fleet in the emirate, offering a safe and comfortable travel experience at the same fare as regular taxis.

The four-wheel drive taxis are equipped with smart surveillance cameras connected to RAKTA’s Smart Control Center, enhancing safety measures and enabling real-time monitoring of vehicle movement to ensure the comfort and security of both passengers and drivers. Additionally, the taxis are fitted with smart meters, allowing round-the-clock tracking of the fleet’s movement to ensure transparency and accuracy in fare calculation.

This four-wheel drive taxi service will cover various areas of Ras Al Khaimah. Customers can conveniently request a vehicle through the Careem app, making booking easier and improving mobility efficiency at all times. This launch aligns with RAKTA’s strategy to enhance quality of life in the emirate, respond to customer needs, and contribute to a reliable and safe transport environment that provides a comprehensive solution for mobility during exceptional circumstances.

H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, emphasized that this service reflects RAKTA’s efforts to provide flexible, advanced transport solutions that achieve high levels of comfort and safety while keeping pace with rapid developments in the transport sector. He noted that adding four-wheel drive taxis demonstrates RAKTA’s commitment to global best practices in transport and public safety, further establishing the emirate as a leader in offering innovative and sustainable transport services.
