As part of Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority’s (RAKTA) efforts to provide smart transportation solutions in line with its strategic initiatives to encourage public transportation and achieve integration among various transportation systems to facilitate passengers’ journeys across public transportation networks, and to offer flexible payment options, RAKTA announced the expansion of the Saqr Card usage for paying intercity bus fares.
The Saqr Card, designated for paying city bus fares, now includes payment for bus tickets for services from Ras Al Khaimah to other Emirates, as well as for international public buses connecting the Emirate to Oman’s Musandam Governorate.
H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director-General of RAKTA, emphasized that expanding the use of the Saqr Card will facilitate passengers’ boarding and alighting on buses, reducing the time required for fare payment. Additionally, the electronic collection system will provide a database that supports the enhancement, planning, and development of Ras Al Khaimah’s public transportation system, making it more efficient. The Saqr Card aligns with RAKTA’s smart service transformation strategy, providing flexible and intelligent payment solutions.
It is worth mentioning that commuters can purchase the cards at sales outlets in the main bus station in the Al Dhait South area or directly from the buses. The card purchase cost is 10 AED and can be recharged at the same outlets.
