As part of its efforts to provide integrated and sustainable transportation solutions that facilitate the movement of residents, visitors, and tourists to meet the needs of all community segments, RAKTA has launched the “RAK Ride” express bus service. This service offers direct, non-stop transportation on main operational lines with multiple routes connecting various areas within the emirate, particularly industrial areas to the city center, ensuring fast and efficient transport from the first mile to the last, enabling users to reach their destinations swiftly, comfortably, and safely.
The launch of the “RAK Ride” service is part of RAKTA’s plan to improve the quality of life in the emirate and to encourage and facilitate public transportation. It aims to ease the community’s movement within the specified destinations and routes, enhancing the quality of public transport services in Ras Al Khaimah.
It’s noteworthy that the service covers several areas in its different phases, with the first phase connecting Al Ghail industrial area to Al Nakheel in the center of Ras Al Khaimah, passing through Adhen area and Ras Al Khaimah airport. The journey takes approximately 45 minutes from the starting point (Al Nakheel station) to Al Ghail industrial station and operates from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Payment for the journey can be made through various options, including Saqr cards and credit cards.
H.E Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, affirmed that the service is a part of Ras Al Khaimah’s 2030 Mobility Plan and responds to customer suggestions. It supports RAKTA’s efforts to develop public transport solutions and diversify public bus transportation options to keep up with the rapid economic and tourism development in Ras Al Khaimah. It also supports RAKTA’s efforts to provide sustainable transport services that align with the best global practices, contributing to making the emirate a leading global destination in various sectors.
H.E also confirmed that the launch of the service would address several critical issues in the transport sector, most importantly eliminating the phenomenon of random transportation for passenger smuggling and unregulated transport by providing transport alternatives that meet customers’ needs, especially since it offers transportation through comfortable small buses with flexible routes suitable for many categories.
Furthermore, the service will enhance the carbon footprint by operating smaller, less fuel-consuming buses and following a flexible and smart scheduling system.
