Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA) has announced the launch of the Classic Taxi Service, commencing on 12 December 2025. This initiative comes as part of RAKTA’s strategic plans to enhance the transport system and expand mobility options available to customers, in line with the Emirate’s vision to support the tourism sector and provide high-quality services that meet the needs of visitors and residents. The service also aims to offer tourists a nostalgic journey through time by providing an experience that reflects the traditional modes of transport used by earlier generations, allowing them to explore the essence of the past in a way that blends heritage with classic character, thereby reinforcing the Emirate’s cultural and tourism identity.
The classic taxis will operate on designated routes, including internal movement within Al Marjan Island, and a connection route linking the island with the Al Qawasim Corniche in both directions, in addition to a route that extends along the Al Qawasim Corniche. This contributes to enhancing connectivity between the Emirate’s key tourism and leisure destinations, while offering a unique transport experience with a distinctive heritage ambiance.
RAKTA has set the daily operating hours from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy premium tours that align with the visual identity and tourism-centric nature of the service.
In this context, H.E. Eng. Esmaeel Hasan Al Blooshi, Director General of RAKTA, affirmed that the launch of this new service comes as part of RAKTA’s efforts to strengthen the transport system and provide diverse and flexible mobility options that meet the needs of various users.
